Meet Dr. Jason Doorish
Let’s get to the core of your struggles to create meaningful, lasting change.
You’ve experienced profound hurts. Now you’re ready for profound healing.
In the 15+ years I’ve worked as a counselor, I’ve garnered a reputation for helping people of all backgrounds who have been through more than their fair share of struggles to move past what’s holding them back and foster lives of purpose and fulfillment.
My extensive experience allows me to work well with…
Those living with severe trauma or PTSD stemming from sexual abuse, military service, working as a first responder, religious abuse, cult involvement, and more
Couples who are struggling with intimacy due to sexual dysfunction or trauma
Sexual addiction, or other forms of addiction, that are interfering with day-to-day functioning
Those who are in recovery for eating disorders, and have already gone through treatment
Current or former military members
Those experiencing grief and loss
You don’t have to stay stuck in shame.
Though the work we’ll do together is hard, it can lead to a life you truly love.

My Approach
Together, we’ll bring what’s troubling you into the light & start doing things differently.
Working with me feels more like an in-depth conversation than therapy. Here, we can laugh at life’s absurdities and address the heavy things you’ve been through or want to work on. I show up as myself, blending honesty, compassion, and humor to make the work we do together feel authentic and meaningful.
We’ll start by building a strong connection between us, digging into the core of what’s going on, and figuring out the best way forward together. I believe lasting change takes time and commitment, and I’m here to walk that path with you, helping you find new meaning in your story and connection in your life.
Therapy with me is:
Directive & honest
I’ll always be upfront with you—no sugarcoating or dancing around difficult topics. If we veer off track, I’ll gently call it out and refocus the conversation. Depending on your needs and goals, you may leave our sessions with practical tools or homework assignments, so you can start making progress right away.
Completely nonjudgmental
Whatever you’ve been through, there’s nothing you could share that would scare me off or make me think less of you. I believe honesty is the foundation for healing, and when you can be real with yourself and others, there’s no room for shame. This is a space where you can let go of those heavy secrets and take a breath of relief.
In-depth & holistic
We’ll dive deep into every part of your life—your relationships, habits, history, how you eat and move your body—to understand the bigger picture. Real change takes time and effort, but together, we can work to build a life where the patterns you want to leave behind just don’t fit anymore. This is a long-term, all-in commitment to creating something better.
Sex-positive
This is a space where you can explore your sexuality without fear of judgment or shame. Whether you’re here to work on sexual addiction or trauma, or are just part of the kink, poly, or LGBTQIA+ communities, you won’t have to justify yourself to me. I’m not here to tell you what’s right or wrong, or to convert you to a different lifestyle, but to help you feel happy, healthy, and connected in ways that align with who you are.
My Methodologies and Frameworks
-
This framework is designed to get to the heart of your struggles with addiction quickly, guiding this deep work step by step. It’s empowering to know there’s a roadmap and tools designed for something that might feel isolating or overwhelming, so you don’t have to face it alone.
-
Our early relationships shape how we connect with others now, and they can lead to us feeling secure, guarded, or somewhere in between. Exploring these patterns can help you understand your relationships and build the kind of connections you want.
-
This is the science behind how our minds and relationships work together. It’s about focusing your attention where you’d like your energy to flow, and creating new possibilities for growth and connection.
-
This evidence-based method involves working to understand the patterns in your relationship and the needs behind them. By exploring how you and your partner connect, you can create a stronger bond and a deeper sense of trust.
-
Mindfulness gives us tools to be fully present in the moment and notice our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without judgment. It’s like pressing pause on the chaos to reconnect with yourself and find a little calm in the noise. By practicing this, you can start to respond to life with more clarity and ease.
-
DBT is about finding balance—between acceptance and change, emotions and logic, and the highs and lows of life. It helps you build skills to manage emotions, stay grounded, and strengthen your relationships.
-
This method is evidence-based and helps you work through memories of painful experiences in a way that feels manageable, using a unique process involving bilateral stimulation to shift how those memories affect you.
-
Brainspotting helps your mind and body process memories or emotions that feel “stuck” by using eye positions to unlock pathways in the brain. It’s a gentle, focused approach that lets you tap into your natural ability to heal, often uncovering insights you didn’t realize were there.
