Couples Counseling

Connect more deeply with each other & yourself.
Though you’re dedicated to staying together, the obstacles you’re facing are too big to overcome on your own.

Maybe you’re experiencing…

  • It feels like there’s a barrier between you and your partner, and no matter how much you want to connect, something keeps getting in the way. Maybe sexual trauma has left you overwhelmed by even the thought of being physically intimate, or past relationship experiences have made it hard to trust fully. Even small things, like a touch or a look, can stir up emotions you weren’t expecting, leaving you both feeling disconnected and unsure how to bridge the gap.

  • Every time the topic of money comes up, it feels like stepping into a minefield—tense, awkward, or even explosive. Whether it’s about spending, saving, or making plans for the future, the conversation seems to hit a dead end or spiral into conflict. You might find yourself avoiding the topic altogether, even though you know it’s something you need to figure out together.

  • The betrayal feels like a crack that runs right through the foundation of your relationship, and you’re not sure how—or if—it can be repaired. Trust feels fragile, and even moments that used to feel comforting can now feel loaded with doubt or pain. There’s a part of you that still wants to reach for your partner, but it’s hard to know where to start when everything feels so broken.

  • Addiction feels like a third presence in your relationship, creating distance where there used to be connection. Whether it’s one or both of you using substances or behaviors like sex to avoid deeper issues, addiction has taken over the life that should belong to the two of you. It can leave you feeling isolated and alone, even if using used to make you feel close to one another.

My Approach

Helping you slow down, communicate, & heal.

We’ll start with a phone consultation with both of you to see if we’re a good fit to work together. During this call, we’ll talk about where things are in your relationship and make sure that staying together is a shared goal for both of you. If we decide to move forward, our first session will be a two-hour deep dive where we’ll explore your relationship history and the challenges you’re facing, as well as beginning to map out clear goals for what you’d both like to see change.

Therapy is an ongoing process with weekly 90-minute sessions, often transitioning to bi-weekly after a few months as progress is made. In our work together, you’ll get to explore the patterns and dynamics in your relationship, learn more about how early experiences might be influencing how you connect now, and find ways to build a stronger bond. I’ll also guide you with meaningful activities and resources to help you practice what you’re learning between sessions, giving you tools to create real change both inside and outside the therapy room.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are couples therapy sessions?
Our first session will be 2 hours long to help us identify the issues you’re struggling with and establish goals for our work together. After that, each weekly session will last 90 minutes.

What is Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)?
This evidence-based method involves working to understand the patterns in your relationship and the needs behind them. By exploring how you and your partner connect, you can create a stronger bond and a deeper sense of trust.

How many couples therapy sessions will we need?
The number of sessions depends on the depth of what we’re working on. With my specialties in severe trauma and sexual dysfunction, it’s likely our work will be long term. After 3-6 months of weekly sessions, we’ll reassess and decide whether you’re ready to transition to bi-weekly sessions.
